Getting the most from your Fox and Flame products is simple. Follow these care tips to enjoy every last drop of fragrance — safely and sustainably.

 

Candle Care

⚠️ Safety First

  • Never leave a burning candle or wax melt unattended
  • Keep away from children, pets, and flammable materials
  • Always burn on a heat-resistant surface
  • Keep out of draughts to avoid uneven burning
  • Do not move a candle while the wax is liquid

 

🕯️ Wick Trimming

Before every burn, trim your wick to 5mm. This prevents mushrooming, reduces soot, and gives you a cleaner, longer-lasting flame. A pair of wick trimmers or small scissors works perfectly. 

Remove charred wood from wooden wick candles before subsequent burns.

 

⏱️ Burn Times

For the first burn, allow your candle to reach a full melt pool — this means the wax melts all the way to the edges of the vessel. This sets the "memory" of the candle and prevents tunnelling. As a guide:

  • Small candles (up to 150g): burn for 2–3 hours at a time
  • Large candles (150g+): burn for no more than 3–4 hours at a time
  • Never burn a candle for more than 4 hours in one sitting
  • Stop use when 10mm of wax remains at the bottom

 

📦 Storage Tips

To preserve the scent and quality of your products:

  • Store candles and wax melts in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
  • Glass cloches placed over candles, when not in use, protect the wax and fragrance
  • Avoid storing near heat sources or in humid environments
  • For best results, use within 12 months of purchase

Wax Melt Care

🌿 Wax Melt Use

Our wax melts are designed for use with a wax melt burner or electric wax warmer. Place 1–2 cubes in the dish of your burner and enjoy hours of fragrance. Tips to get the best from them:

  • Use an unscented tea light (4-hour burn time) for traditional burners
  • Never leave a burning wax melt unattended
  • Allow the wax to cool and solidify before moving your burner
  • Discard wax when the scent has faded — do not top up with water

All Fox and Flame products are 100% vegan and crafted with care. We use natural waxes, phthalate-free fragrances, and recyclable or reusable packaging wherever possible. When your candle is finished, clean out the vessel and repurpose it. Our candle jars make beautiful plant pots, pen holders, or storage jars.
